Treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy with regenerative medical treatment utilizing Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

Let’s start by understanding what is peripheral neuropathy (PN). In general, damage to the nerves in the arms, hands, legs, and feet that lead to pain, numbness, or weakness. This damage is usually due to a lack of oxygen by poor circulation, high blood sugar, excessive toxicity, prescription drugs, chemicals, or pesticides.

The National Institute of Health estimates that more than 20 million people in the U.S suffer from some form of PN. These patients are usually treated with medications that are created for other conditions such as depression and epilepsy; such as Gabapentin. Even more dangerous is the use of highly addictive opioid narcotics. If these drugs do not help, they will either chemically block a nerve or completely destroy the nerve with radiofrequency ablation.

What is the alternative?

Typically treatments go after the symptoms and not the actual cause of PN which is usually due to a lack of oxygen.

Here at Synergy Health Medical Center, we create a treatment program designed to stimulate the formation of new blood vessels. We do this with regenerative medicine, utilizing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and in some cases mesenchymal stem cell products. This approach enhances your body’s natural ability to heal and avoids the dangerous side effects of traditional medical treatments.
